Emotive Military Cross group to Captain E A Pengelly Royal Engineers late Warwickshire Yeomanry. Edgar Ambrose Pengelly was born in Warwickshire in 1882. The son of William Edward and Harriett Lydia Pengelly. Pengelly was a pre-war territorial who served as Staff Sergeant Major with the Warwickshire Yeomanry and was awarded a EVII Territorial Force Efficiency Medal. Commissioned Second Lieutenant 5th April 1915, announced London Gazette 3rd May 1915. To France 10th March 1916, Mentioned in Despatches 9th April 1917. Awarded the Military Cross in January 1918. "For devotion, untiring energy, and zeal in command of his company in connection with operations at Ypres." Pengelly sadly died of wounds on 31st March 1918. He was laid to rest in St. Sever Cemetery. With a gold fob 1908 and silver fob, Kenilworth Cup 1907/8 named to Pengelly and MID certificate Also entitled to a Victory Medal.
