Lieut H E Skeffington Army Printing and Stationary Service Harold Ernest Skeffington was born in Kensington in 1878, the son of Martin Southwell Skeffington, a Publisher. Harold also worked in Publishing and during the Great War served as a Second Lieutenant in the Army Printing and Stationary Services. Entitled to the pair only, to France 15th December 1917. Correctly impressed - 2.Lieut H E Skeffington Condition = GVF. Kings South Africa Medal to 3391 Pte R Eden RL Fusiliers Robert Henry Eden was born in Hammersmith in 1871. He attested on 22nd November 1889, joining the 5th battalion of the Royal Fusiliers. Medal is confirmed on roll and in-service papers. Service number differs on roll 3394. Correctly impressed 3391 Pte R Eden Rl Fusiliers Condition = GVF. 1914/ 15 Star and Victory Medal to 2.Lieut H N S Skeffington RFC Herbert Neville Southwell Skeffington was born in Kensington on 25th June 1884, a border at Charter House School. In civilian life, he was a photographer living in Australia when the war was declared. Skeffington attested on 18th August 1914 joining the 3rd Field Company Engineers Australian Imperial Force. He saw service in Gallipoli until evacuation in September 1915 due to Dysentery. Commissioned in the field as a Second Lieutenant on 15th June 1916, promoted to Lieutenant 10th June 1916 and discharged to RFC. Serving as a Pilot on 57 Squadron, which operated DH4 Bombers, by June 1917 he was a Pilot Officer. Sadly killed in action on 28th July 1917 when he was lost over German lines, having been shot down by Pour Le Merite winner Eduard Ritter Von Dostler. Skeffington's Observer, Lieutenant Malloch was taken, prisoner. Hebert was laid to rest in Wielsbeke Communal Cemetery. 1914/15 Star correctly impressed - 4 SPR H N Skeffington 3/F.C ENG AIF Victory Medal correctly impressed - 2. Lieut H N S Skeffington.
