EMOTIVE SECOND WORLD WAR BOMBER COMMAND CASUALTY GROUP to Flying Officer F C Hentsch RAFVR Sold by order of the family. Frederick Charles Hentsch was born in Islington on 24th June 1913. A draughtsman by trade, he joined the Royal Airforce Volunteer Reserve and qualified as a Pilot on 5th December 1935. Hentsch was on 12 Squadron, and 24th of March 1944 was in command of Avro Lancaster Mk.III ND650 PN-Y. On the way home from Operations over Berlin, the aircraft lost navigation track and was hit by Flak over Duisburg. Hentsch and three other crew members were sadly killed, the remaining men were able to bail out. Frederick was laid to rest in the Reichswald Forest Cemetery.
