1840 PENNY BLACK on a folded legal document addressed to "S.J. Sharpe, Market Deeping", with regard to a parliamentary courts bill. It would appear that Mr. Sharpe was the clerk to the Market Deeping Association for the Prosecution of Felons and is listed in the History Gazetteer and Directory of Lincolnshire, 1842; together with five other letters affixed with Penny Blacks, several with two penny blues and a quantity with Penny Reds, all in a loose leaf album
