MILITARY MEDAL to 9175 Pte G Jones 19/ Durh LI / Convicted of Desertion George Jones lived in Stockton on Tees He first served with the 2nd battalion DLI, entering France on 8th September 1914. In his book, 'The Steel of DLI' Sheen notes that Jones was convicted of Desertion 23rd December 1915. I am unsure of the sentence, but at some point, he was transferred to the 19th DLI. Awarded the Military Medal which was gazetted 13th May 1919. He was discharged to the reserves. MM = 9175 Pte G Jones 19/ Durh L I Condition = VF ( slight contact marks on initial)
