L.I 1939/45 Star Defence Medal War Medal GVR LSGC correctly impressed 4435229 W O Cl 1C H Makeham Durh L I Condition Fine to VF+ (Trio polished, LSGC with official correction) Cyril Herbert Makeham was born in Bedfordshire on 15th May 1887. A member of the 2nd Bn Durham Light Infantry he landed in France & Flanders on 8th September 1914. He was taken prisoner on 9th April 1918 and held until the end of the war. Awarded the LSGC in 1927 and M.B.E, 21.5.1932 By 1939 he was retired and living from a Warrant Officers pension. During the Second World War, he was commissioned as a Captain & Quartermaster in the Northumberland Fusiliers.
