A SCARCE AFRICA GENERAL SERVICE MEDAL 'KENYA' GROUP TO MAJOR WILKINSON DURHAM LIGHT INFANTRY. 1939 to 45 Star Africa Star Italy Star Defence Medal War Medal AGSM Kenya correctly impressed T G Wilkinson DLI Condition GVF Swing mounted as worn Thomas Geoffrey Wilkinson was born on 29th October 1915. He was commissioned into the Durham Light Infantry on 1937. During the Second World War he was posted to the 10th Bn and served in the BEF, service in Iceland followed. While serving as a Major in the Africa campaign, he was dangerously wounded by a Grenade on 12th May 1942. He was able to resume his duties as Second in Command of the 10th Bn in August 1942. Wilkinson then went on to serve with the 14th Bn in Italy. In the post-war years, he was attached to the Kings African Rifles from 2nd January 1952 until 18th December 1955. Serving with the KAR in Kenya. He retired in late 1955 and remained in the Army Reserve until 1965.
