A GREAT WAR AND VOLUNTEER FORCES LSGC GROUP TO SJT BONE DLI 1914/15 Star 9225 Pte W A Bone Durh L I Pair 9225 A SJT W A Bone Durh L I Volunteer Forces LSGC 5841 Pte W A Bone 2 RGAV Durham Medals correctly impressed. Condition VF+ William Alfred Bone was born in St Margret's, Durham. On the 4th September 1914, he attested for the Durham Light Infantry, stating he already had 21 years' service with volunteers. He was awarded Field Punishment No2 twice in 1915 for 'Drunkenness'. He landed in France with the 4th Bn on 28th August 1915, serving there until 21st May 1917. He was sent back to France 28th July 1917 and transferred to the Labour Corps on 15th November 1918. Bone was discharged on 1st February 1919.
