A CASUALTY 1914/15 TRIO TO L/CPL MARSHALL 18TH DURHAM PALS. Correctly impressed 18/324 L/Cpl W E Marshall Durh L I Condition EF William Ernest Marshall was born in Haltwhistle, Northumberland and enlisted in Ashington. An original member of the 18th Bn he was given service number 18/324. He landed in Egypt on 22nd December 1915 and proceeded with the Bn to France in 1916. He was sadly killed in action on 3rd May 1917 and is remembered on the Arras Memorial.
