MEMORIAL SCROLL AND MEDALS TO GERMAN ARMY CORPORAL KARL HAY Corporal Karl Alois Heu was born in Großweikersdorf on 12th August 1923. He served in the RAD before being called up for service in the Army. He was killed in Oreal, Russia on 12th July 1943 and has no known grave. The group consist of two postcard photographs of the recipient, a cloth breast eagle, Metal RAD insignia badges. Gilt paper memorial scroll, Russian Front Medal, Iron cross second class and a death card. The death card roughly translates 'A cross, a helmet, a helmet is all that remained to us from our dear son and brother, who loved us all. They have buried him, where the bullet hit him, in cool enemy earth. He lies in his last sleep. But as a Christ, a bright, golden star shines on us. We see him again with Jesus, our Lord.'
