A SOUTH AFRICA 1834 - 1853 & LSGC TO G. THOMPSON 72ND REGT South Africa Medal 1853 correctly impressed - G. Thompson 72nd Regt. The suspender has been reattached. LSGC Correctly engraved - Private George Thompson 72nd Highlanders. With replacement Waterloo type suspender. The pair is housed in a contemporary case, which has damage. Condition VF ( contacting) Please see the saleroom.com for extra pictures. George Thompson was born in Dundee in 1813. He attested on 26th April 1831 aged eighteen. He was awarded the South Africa Medal for his service in the 1st Kaffir War 1834-35. He served a total of 21 Years and 169 days and was discharged on 28th September 1852 and received the Long Service Good Conduct Medal.
