GREAT WAR CASUALTY GROUP TO S/1506 PTE W SIMPSON SEAFORTH HIGHLANDERS Who having served in the Boer War was killed in action on the first day of Loos. Queen South Africa Medal - Cape Colony, Orange Free State, Transvaal -6611 Pte W Simpson 2 Sea Highrs King South Africa Medal - South Africa 1901, South Africa 1902 - 6611 Pte W Simpson Seaforth Highrs 1914/15 Trio - S-1526 Pte W Simpson Sea highrs Plaque = William Simpson Correctly impressed Condition GVF William Simpson was born in North Leith, Scotland in 1880. He attested aged nineteen joining the 2nd battalion. Simpson saw service in the Boer War and was awarded the QSA & KSA. He was transferred to the Army Reserve on 4th June 1907 and discharged 4th June 1911. He re-joined during the Great War and was sadly killed in action on 25th September 1915 on the first day of the Battle of Loos. His body was not recovered, and he is remembered on the Loos Memorial.
