•DON MCKINLAY (1929-2017) 'Margaret Thatcher' oil on canvas, 33.5cm x 33.5cm This study of the former Prime Minister was inspired by the famous image of Thatcher standing in a Union Jack-flying Challenger Tank at a NATO training ground at Fallingbostel, south of Hamburg on 17th September 1986. This was considered a watershed moment for her re-election campaign and Thatcher was described as looking as a "cross between Isadora Duncan and Lawrence of Arabia" by the Daily Telegraph.
