A WILLIAM AND MARY JAPANNED CABINET ON SILVERED STAND, late 17th century, the upper section decorated in polychrome and shades of gilt with chinoiserie landscapes, exotic birds, a vase charged with flowers, insects and elegant figures on a black ground and with a finely chased gilt brass lock plate, mounts and pierced strap hinges on the rectangular doors enclosing an arrangement of ten various drawers with conforming decoration, the interior of the doors decorated with foliage sprouting from a fenced garden beneath which walks a peacock and ornamental ducks amidst foliage, the silvered stand carved with a deep apron incorporating amorini flanking a figure carrying a basket of flowers attended by two eagles with wings displayed against a background of scrolling acanthus foliage, flowers and ribbed scrolls, the shaped legs carved with putti carrying flowers and leafage terminating in scrolling feet, 48" wide max. x 66" high.
