A CHARLES I OAK FOUR POSTER BED, the baluster posts carved with stylised leafage beneath a band of stop-fluting and the back board with panels of stylised branches of blossom and leafy scrolls divided at the top by three conforming shallow corbels, one retaining an old iron fitting for hangings, the ceiling of the bed with a central lozenge-shaped panel enclosed by ten geometric and foliate panels carved with geometric scrolls, chip-carved crosses and leafage, 61.5" wide x 76" long x 85" high Literature: Victor Chinnery: "Oak Furniture: The British Tradition", published Woodbridge, Suffolk 1979, page.389, figure 3:460
