MAREVNA (1892-1984) 'The French Garden, Athelhampton'' a cubist study of Athelhampton's famous 'pyramids', signed and dated 1955, acrylic on paper, 21.5" x 25.5" (approx) Marevna and her family lived at Athelhampton from 1948-1955. During this time she painted a number of views of the house and gardens. Now known as the Pyramid Garden, this picture was created on the flat roof above the front porch. it shows the vivid contrast of the copper beech, lime and green beech trees, probably in late springtime.
