LANGYAO BOTTLE VASE, KANGXI PERIOD, the deep red glaze thinning at the top rim and pooling a little at the foot, the base with an anhua Xuande mark, 20cm high Provenance: The Herbert Rothbarth Collection, Sparks, London. Christie's May 23rd 1960, lot 84. Note: a similar vase with an inscribed poem by the Qianlong Emperor is in the Palace Museum, Beijing. It is illustrated in Lam, Peter, Lang Tingji, Transactions of the Oriental Ceramic Society, vol.68, 2003-4, p.32. where the author notes that Qianlong dated it to the 15th century.
