FAMILLE VERTE 'WATER BIRDS' CHARGER, KANGXI PEDRIOD, showing a kingfisher perched on a flowering plant on the edge of a pool, with further birds below, one perched on a rock and the other washing, the underside painted with landscape scenes, the base with a foliate mark, 34cm diam Provenance: Christie's 11th November 1985, lot 219. Note: this dish is rare in its open format without a border, which has more in common with famille verte narrative chargers of the period. A similar dish was extant at Clandon Park until it was stolen in 2010. Another is recorded in the Musee Guimet, Paris. The execution of painting can also be compared to a set of dishes in the Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden.
