BLUE AND WHITE SHALLOW MING-STYLE 'BOYS' BOWL, XUANDE SIX CHARACTER MARK BUT KANGXI PERIOD, the exterior of the finely-potted gently-rounded body decorated with a continuous scene of boys playing on a garden terrace, 19.5cm diam Provenance: Duke's, 26th May 2005, lot 360. Note: this bowl is a good example of the group of very fine Ming style porcelain produced in the Kangxi period. For a Ming original of this design showing sixteen children at play see Sotheby's London 24th November 2981, lot 68. A Yongle bowl in the Ko Tianminglou Collection is identical in diameter and height. That catalogue also refers to two Xuande examples with larger foot diameters in the National Palace Museum Collection.
