RARE BLACK WARE GLAZED POTTERY PILLOW, JIN DYNASTY of pavilion form, covered in a rich brownish black thick glaze running short at the foot to reveal the pottery body, 20cm wide. This dating is consistent with Oxford Authentication report P206g23. Note: Such pillows are extremely rare and are usually found in white porcelain or qingbai ware; for an example see, Wang, A Dictionary of Chinese Ceramics, p. 70, for a white porcelain pillow in the collection of the Shanghai Museum, dated Five Dynasties or Northern Song; also a glazed earthenware example in the form of a building in Hobson, The Eumorfopoulus Collection, Vol. 1, no. 363, pl LXI.
