IMPRESSIVE PAIR OF ENAMEL PRICKET CANDLESTICKS, QIANLONG PERIOD, of squared bell-shaped form, the base rising to a central bulb supporting a large drip-tray, set to the centre, surmounted by a small vasiform section below a smaller tray fitted with a metal pricket, decorated throughout with brightly coloured enamels of lotus blossom and scrolling tendrils, reserved against a turquoise ground, with carved hardwood stands, 54cm high (without stands) Note: for similar but smaller pair of candlesticks, see the Hermitage Museum, St Petersburg; illustrated in Arapova, Chinese Painted Enamels, pl. 161, Nos. 233 & 244.
