XING ZHAI (CHINESE, 19TH CENTURY), 'PEONY', colour and ink on silk, inscribed 'There were abundant peony flowers blooming in the garden of the late teacher and master Jin Xiao-zhang in spring during the Qing Period. I painted this single stem of white peony blooming gloriously' and with artist seals, 26cm wide, 96cm high, framed Provenance: From the collection of Alan and Joan Scott, CVO, CBE, Deputy Chief Secretary of Hong Kong, 1971-1985.
