DEHUA ENAMELLED 'SLEEVE' VASE LATE MING DYNASTY the cylindrical body with shoulder lion-mask handles, enamelled in turquoise, iron-red and green with birds and flowering plants issuing from rockwork, 21.5cm high Provenance: Stockspring Antiques London, 18th November 1998. Note: it is likely that the enamelling on this vase was carried out at Swatow rather than Dehua. For a very similar vase see Donnelly, P.J., Blanc de Chine, London 1969, pl.134B. Also, a comparable pair of vases is illustrated in Kerr, R., & Ayers, J., Porcelain from Dehua: A Catalogue of the Hickley Collection, 2002, no.70.
