WILLIAM WEBSTER OF LONDON TORTOISESHELL PEAR CASED GENTLEMAN'S OPEN FACED POCKET WATCH with key wind fusee movement, white enamel dial, black Roman numerals, gold coloured hands with a Victorian glass dome ebonised base pocket watch stand, No. 692, circa 1700, case diameter approx. 45mm. Provenace: Athelhampton House, Dorset. William Webster was apprentice to John Barnett in 1701 and transferred to Thomas Tompion where he completed his apprenticeship and worked as a journey man and then became a freeman of the Worshipful Company of Clockmakers.
