H. CRAWSHAY 1830 CAST IRON CANNON on a cast iron carriage and tapering barrel, with makers details to the carriage and "Growler" on the cannon, 114cm high x 202cm long Provenance: This cannon is one of a pair that was cast especially for defending "Cyfarthfa Castle" in Merthyr Tydfil, Wales. The cannon was cast using a secret metal formula. The Crawshay family sold the castle and the contents including the cannons in the Estate Sale in 1908.
