IRON AGE/ EARLY ROMAN TERRET RING, circa 1st-2nd century AD, The ring is of rectangular cross section terminating in convex roundels which form parallel in-line collars to a convex and trapeziodal attachment bar. Decorated with geometric yellow and red champleve enamel work. 80mm width, 53.7mm maximum internal diameter and rectangular cross section 11.6mm wide x 9.1mm thick Provenance: Found in Hampshire Foot note: Terret rings have been used for centuries to guide the reigns from a horses mouth into the the drivers hand on chariots and other horse drawn vehicles.
