GEOLOGY: ten books of geological reports from the travels of Major Richard Kenneth Richardson including: a "Report on a Reconnaissance in Venezuela"; "Geological reports on Trinidad"; "Mission Scientifique En Perse, vol 1" ; "The Report on League of Nations Administration of the Territory of New Guinea, 1st July 1921 - 30th June 1922"; "Papua Reports and Notes"; "Report on Albania" with loose maps dating from 1920's and graphs; and "Bentley's Complete Phrase Code numbered" and three others Provenance: Richard Kenneth Richardson was born in Burnley, Lancashire on June 6th 1887. His early education was at St. Stephenson's School, Burnley and he gained a scholarship to the Imperial College of London to study geology, where he won the Murchison Medal for Geology. He worked in Burma for an oil company before the First World War, during which he served with 26th King George's Cavalry as a Major. After the First World War he led geological expeditions to South America, West Indies, and central Europe. He also did surveys in Persia, Burma, India and Balochistan. In 1927 he gained a PHD from Heidelberg University. In the same year he led an expedition for Anglo-Persian Oil to Papua New Guinea. He published scientific papers on petroleum and geology.
