The vehicle easily achieves 50 plus mph and cruises along
beautifully.
The history that comes with the vehicle include very rare
items like the old road tax record in fantastic condition. The paperwork pack
also includes a 1950 vehicle registration document the likes of which are very
rarely seen let alone in fantastic condition like this one.
The vehicle has covered just under 62,000 miles according to
the odometer. Mechanically the vehicle is in fantastic condition and requires
no welding. The engine and gearbox feel very tight and offer a positive driving
experience
The body work is corrosion free and in great condition, the
paint job has patina and looks period correct, the station wagon back and door
tops have flaking paint as to be expected but fit well with the age and patina
of the vehicle. A true barn find.
The interior is in true barn find condition. Metal
work is solid and seals, interior fabric is ripped in places and none matching
but is likely the same basic seats as fitted 67 years ago. The dash is complete
and working, 1 ignition key is present.
Mechanically the vehicle has been fitted with a new battery,
new distributor, carb overall and runs great. The car comes with its original
manual starting handle although it has a 12v starter motor fitted that works
great, just another small bit of history included. The tyres are old and
perished but all hold air, the brakes work perfectly. There appears to be no
leaks of any kind underneath.
Electrics
The wiring needs a small tidy up in places but works as
expects. The very basic nature of this vehicle mean there are very few
electrical components. Really a couple of hours spent tidying up loose wires
here and there would make a huge difference to the appearance.
Overall the vehicle offers something no modern car is
capable of offering. British history at its finest, legacy and nostalgia. All
this in a package that is entirely usable on modern day roads and byways.
Simple fun and a slower pace then normal busy life. The senses alive with the
sounds and smells of the 50s.
