Frederick Charles Hemsworth was born in 1877. He was a Watchmaker by trade and resided in Lincoln with his family. 
He served in the Royal Flying Corps as an Armourer from 13th June 1916 until 1st April 1918 when the Royal Airforce wad formed, from which he was discharged on 30th April 1920. He spent the war years serving with 100 Squadron which operated B.E.2's and in the later months of the war Handley Page 0/400 bombers. 
During the Second World War, he likely served in the Home Guard and was awarded the Defence Medal. 
The group is swing mounted as worn.
