Estimate: £500 - £1,000
Hammer price: £500
Bidding ended. Lot has been sold.
by Josiah Bartholomew, Sherborne, the case with crossbanded long arched door above a rectangular plinth on bracket feet, the hood with turned columns and blind fret, dentil-carved, pediment, the arched brass dial with dolphin spandrels, "tempest fugit" to the arch, the silvered chapter ring with Roman and Arabic numerals, subsidiary seconds dial, date aperture and two train movement striking on a bell,
Height 220cm
Width 46cm

The exterior bears the usual minor knocks and scuffs overall consistent with age and use. One or two dentils are missing from the hood -also a small length of moulding from above one column. Column bases have been later oil painted in gold. Bracket base is later replaced. There has been other work to the case, including a later top and it is not inconceivable that case and movement are associated.

Movement appears to be in good order, but has not been checked by a qualified horologist.

A pendulum is present with the lot, as are two weights.

Height: 220cm

Width: 46cm
