Estimate: £1,000 - £1,500
Hammer price: £1,500
Bidding ended. Lot has been sold.

third quarter 18th century, the brick red, grey and striated white marble top with moulded and serpentine front and sides, above an openwork frieze of scrolling foliate and rocaille mouldings, on two conforming foliate carved legs descending inwards to scrolled feet,

Height 79cm
Width 114cm
Depth 53cm

The table and marble top bear the usual minor knocks, scuffs and abrasions overall consistent with age and use.

The marble top appears to be original and is in good order.

The giltwood base has various elements throughout which have been broken and refixed with glue, sometimes with canvas backing as strengthener. These are all 'old repairs' and no significant elements appear to be actually missing.

The gesso has been chipped away in many places around the lower legs. Some losses have been retouched with 20th century gold paint.

The detractions above considered, the piece remains in perfectly satisfactory order.
