Walter Pulteney Koe was born on September 22nd 1877, in Hampton Wick, Middlesex. He entered the Royal Navy as a Midshipman on September 15th 1893.

Koe was attached to the Turkish Navy in June 1914. He was recalled in
September 1914. In the early stages of the Great War, he was in command of the
Armed Yacht Ellida and placed in command of Auxiliary Patrol Area XIX. Ellida
served in home waters and the Mediterranean.
He retired in 1917 as a Commander. For his service in the Great War, Koe
was awarded a 1914/15 Trio with a Mention in Despatches (21.6.19) and The Order
of the Nile 4th Class (19.12.17). This decoration is not present with the
group.
Commander Coe passed away in 1954.
