Literature: Jessica Rawson: "Chinese Jade from the Neolithic to the Qing", the British Museum Press, published 1995, illustrates a comparable horse on page 373, 26:16. The author describes the jade as Yuan or later and compares it to a pair of kneeling horses at Xiaoling near Nanjing, the 14th century tomb of the Hongwu Emperor.

Appears in excellent overall condition. There is some natural russet inclusions and mottling to the jade, especially one of the rear legs. Otherwise this wonderful piece with crisp carving has no obvious signs of damage or restoration (please see additional images)
