John McDougal was a Liverpool born artist and specialised in painting landscape and coastal scenes in Cornwall, Sussex, Devon, Wales, Anglesey and the Isle of Man. He exhibited his works at the Royal Academy, The Royal Society of British Artists and the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour between 1877 – 1903. His works can be found at the Blackburn Museum and Art Gallery and Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool.
