George
Wheadon was born in Clydach, Gloucestershire, in 1891. At the time of the 1911
census, he was living with his family at 9 Fern Terrace Tonypandy and working
as a Coal Miner.
George
enlisted and was posted to the 7th Battalion Somerset Light Infantry. He landed
in France on 24th July 1915 and is also entitled to a 1914/15 Star.
Wheadon
was tragically killed in action on 22nd March 1918, the second day of Operation
Michael, the German Spring Offensive. He is commemorated on the Pozieres
Memorial.

MSM was announced in the London Gazette on the 17th of June 1918.
