Frank John Dutton was born in Aston, Warwickshire. He attested, aged 19 on the 20th of November 1914 at Dublin, giving his occupation as Clerk. 

 

He landed at Gallipoli with the Royal Irish Fusiliers on the 7th of August 1915; he was wounded to the right thigh by shrapnel on the 21st of August at Sulva Bay. He recovered after 28 days in the hospital.

 

While serving in France in July 1918, he had an attack of Malaria that he had probably picked up in Gallipoli. He was discharged due to this.
