A WORCESTER MASK JUG

circa 1768-70, of pear-shape painted with the “Jabberwocky” pattern, the Kakiemon style winged bird headed dragon on a flowering branch from a gilt pineapple with banded hedges, within turquoise scroll border to the top, 19cm high

Literature: A tea service of this pattern was in the Factory Sale at Christie’s on December 14th 1769 (Nightingale p.100).

There is some rubbing to the decoration consistent with age. There has been restoration to the spout and a fracture that runs from the spout down the body of the jug (please see additional images)
