the obverse with the King and Queen facing right, and the reverse with Jove striking down Phaethon on the back of his chariot allegedly in representation of James II, the recently disgraced King, and his loss of the “reigns” of the British Empire, 35mm diameter

Provenance: Apparently 715 of these medals were minted, 515 of which were given to Members of the
House of Commons, including this one given to Thomas Medlycott as recorded on a label
inside the original shagreen case.
