A GEORGE II WALNUT CHAIR

in the manner of William Hallett, with an acanthus-carved top rail over a pierced and interlaced splat similarly carved and flanked by fluted uprights, with a needlework drop-in seat, on cabriole front legs carved with a stylised scallop shell and ending in claw and ball feet, 60cm wide x 93cm high

Note: The distinctive collars above the claw and ball feet are a feature usually associated with William Hallett, the renowned 18th century cabinetmaker who originated from Somerset.

Of rich colouration especially to the front legs.

There is light old worming especially to the back legs.

There are very small missing sections and chips to veneers of the seat rail.

There are old repairs to the front legs near the scallop shell ‘knees’. 

In good sturdy condition with no loose joints.
