In historic country house condition consistent with age and the materials employed.

The frame is faded and there are areas of damage consistent with age. The back has been broken and there are two old estate style repairs in metal held with screws around the upper corners. The unvarnished back rail shows evidence of worm damage which is also evident elsewhere. Both of the shepherds crook arms have been broken and repaired. There are losses and repairs to the veneer on the front rail and there are dark patches which may relate to treatment for worm damage or crude repairs. There is some fading due to exposure to sunlight. The frame appears to be original with a dry surface and a slight red wash. The upholstery, which is recorded as being original, is faded and there is damage and wear consistent with age.
