A CONTINENTAL PORCELAIN ICE PAIL OR FRUIT COOLER

19th century, the flattened urn shape of three-part construction, the lid decorated with pineapple finial, the main body decorated with two panels of revelling cherubs amongst grapes, with applied goat head handles, 35cm high x 21cm diameter

Provenance: The Estate of Henry Morton Stanley (1841-1904), thence by descent.

The finial has been broken and restored. One of the masks has a restored horn. There is a chip to the edge of the upper section. There is a firing crack to the foot. Some wear to decoration and gilding throughout.
