A GEORGE II BURR WALNUT AND MAHOGANY KNEEHOLE DESK

18th century and later, the rectangular moulded top over shallow frieze drawer, six small drawers and central cupboard with internal shelf, decorated with feather banding, and terminating on bracket feet with ogee detailing between, 74cm high x 70cm long x 47cm deep

Numerous amendments and restorations apparent. The feet and sides both appear later replacements. The handles have been replaced. The central door hinges are later. The central recessed section has later sides and apron, it is possible that the desk has been converted from a chest. There is some splitting to the early veneer. Some light surface scratching and marks apparent. Evidence of old worm. Areas of mouldign splitting/lifting.
