The stands appear to be in fair country house condition with wear largely commensurate with age and use. Both have losses to ebony and gilt throughout with evidence of old damages, restorations and old worm. Good overall appearance and structure.
One stand has partial loss of ebony decoration and some splitting to the top. Surface wear and abrading to the gadrooned border and eagle heads. One beak damaged and seperated with losses to the lower half. Old restoration to a foot. Splits, chips and knocks to the feet and legs.
The other stand bears similar wear to the top. It has a historic repair to one of the protruding heads. Abrading and partial losses throughout. Surface splits and partial losses to legs and feet, with wear, minor splits, abraded edges and minor loss of gilding.
The pair retain their structural integrity and original attractive patina.
