GUSTAV HAMEL, PIONEER AVIATOR: A very rare flown postcard featuring Hamel in his 50HP Bleriot monoplane, captioned Gustav Hamel.'England's Daring Aviator', with violet ink 'Aerial Staffs Post' stamp, and 'Stafford' cancelled KGV 1/2D postage stamp - '8.15 PM OC 13' NB. Hamel was born in Britain in 1889 and learned to fly at the Blériot school at Pau, France in 1910. He disappeared over the English Channel on 23 May 1914
