A QUEENS SOUTH AFRICA MEDAL TO PTE GALLEY VOLUNTEER COY DLI QSA correctly impressed 8220 Pte J S Galley VL Coy Durh Lt Infy. Bars, Cape Colony; Orange Free State; Transvaal; South Africa 1901 and South Africa 1902. Condition GVF ( rivet missing between Transvaal and 1901 bar) James Galley was born in 1878 in Chester Le Street. An Engineman by trade, he attested on 24th March 1900, stating he was already serving in the 4th Volunteer Bn. He served in South Africa from March 1901 until June 1902.
