1952 JOWETT JUPITER MK1 Registration Number: NYD 273 Chassis Number: 270 A Engine Number: R1-SA-111R Model: E1 SA111-R The Jupiter was Jowett's flagship sports car. The cars were hand built in Bradford, Yorkshire, between 1950 and 1954. They were produced following the successes of their larger predecessors, the Jowett Javelin. Approximately only 900 examples were ever built. The chassis was designed at ERA ltd by the celebrated Austrian engineer Dr Ing Robert Eberan-Eberhost. The First Jupiter was launched in 1950 and in the same year won its class at Le Mans, in record speed. The coachwork is largely aluminum and it has a tubular steel chassis. The engine is a Jowett Designed 1500cc flat four. This car is one of around only 400 Jowett Jupiter's remaining on the road; it is a statement of British design and comes from a legacy of racing greats.
