COALBROOKDALE 'SERPENT AND GRAPES' PATTERN CAST IRON GARDEN SEAT, second half 19th century, the armrests with hound headed terminals, above supports cast as coiled serpents amongst vines, the ends with registration number 17597 and diamond patent registration stamps; later replaced wood slatted back and seat, 85cm high, 157cm wide Note: This design, number 17597 is the second oldest seat design registered and patented by the Coalbrookdale Foundry at the Public Records Office, on 6th April 1844.
