Henry Joseph Baker was a native of Finsbury Park in London. He joined
the 14th London's on November 29th 1909. He attended all the annual training
camps and was an Acting Sergeant by the start of the Great War.
He served on the Western front from September 16th 1914, until November
9th 1914, when he was shot in the left thigh. He was discharged at home on
March 8th 1917, after a period of recovery and home service. He was awarded a
Silver War Badge and pension.
