In historic country house condition consistent with age and the materials employed.
This table, of diminutive proportions, is in good overall condition. The column and tripod base are of good colour and retain an excellent surface. There is a split (unrepaired) in the tripod and one of the legs has been spliced with consequent damage. The mahogany top and the turned section immediately underneath it screw into brass thread set into the lower and earlier section of the column. It is possible that the table was originally conceived to have a brass top similar to that illustrated in the collection of Samuel Messer (reference GS ADD).
The top is faded with some areas of dark staining.
