on an associated walnut stand, the cabinet with a moulded cornice over a pair of doors enclosing a fitted
interior of ten drawers surrounding a central door enclosing three further drawers, the stand with a single
drawer and on associated shaped front legs, 110cm wide x 49cm deep x 158cm high

Provenance: This cabinet appears in a photograph of The Great Hall taken at Sandford Orcas circa 1877 and in a painting of The Great Hall dated 1885. The key label describes the cabinet as “The Mayor’s Cabinet”, but without explanation as to the identity of the Mayor.

A rich colour in country house condition with small scratches and surface marks commensurate with age.

There is an old repair to one corner of the cabinet.

There has been some shrinkage to the veneers and small losses including those to one leg in particular.

The stand is associated.
